Page 2 THE EIGHTH TRIBE December, 1979 DEDICATION This magazine is dedicated to the Eighth Tribe in America, descendants of the original Seven Magyar Tribes. Whatever their faith, their familiarity with their ancestral language, or their degree of Hungarian ancestry, we address ourselves to each of them. If this reading is your first acquaintance with “THE EIGHTH TRIBE”, we hope you find it informative and enjoyable and that in time you will become one of our regular subscribers. THE EDITOR’S CORNER THOUGHTS AT THE END OF A YEAR . . . are yet other examples of gifts from the Lord, to whom we should offer thanks. The beauty of nature which offers inspiration to the poets and the artists and a wonder of entertainment to the avid sports enthusiasts and eager youngsters, is another proof of the existence of a loving Lord who cares for His Creatures. Those who have experienced a sorrow throughout the year also can give thanks for their ability to survive and go on. A loving family or consoling friends can often make the load more bearable — can give hope to the downtrodden. The belief that loved ones will be united some day with Our Lord and Father eases the sting of death. The cooing of a contented baby, the inquisitiveness of youngsters, the love displayed by a son or daughter, are all reasons for parents to give thanks. These experiences are priceless and cannot be purchased. ‘‘Thank you, Lord —-For everything!” This simple expression of gratitude to God, our Creator, beautifully displays great faith in the power of the Supreme Being. For ivithout God, nothing is possible. Persons of all religious affiliations acknowledge the wonder of Almighty God and all that He provides His Creatures. God is responsible for every facet of our existence. The thrill of mastering a skill whether it be carpentry, sewing, crocheting or typing, is an act of God — permitting human hands to do what the mind wills them. The delight of feeling success on an examination in school, or the outcome of a job quest, DONATION TO THE EIGHTH TRIBE FOUNDATION P. 0. Married couples who have known happy and sad events, who have endured tragedies and problems, yet persevered in keeping their promise of fidelity intact, should give credit to their silent Partner (the Lord) who has influenced their lives. Those who can enjoy an evening with friends, laughing at the memories of yesteryear, sometime, should realize another Old Friend who has made these happy events possible. Thus, for all things of this earthly existence — we give thanks to You, 0 Lord. Cover by Béla Tóth. Courtesy of Uj Élet, Lethbridge, Can.
