Page 2 THE EIGHTH TRIBE October, 1979 DEDICATION This magazine is dedicated to the Eighth Tribe in America, descendants of the original Seven Magyar Tribes. Whatever their faith, their familiarity with their ancestral language, or their degree of Hungarian ancestry, we address ourselves to each of them. If this reading is your first acquaintance with “THE EIGHTH TRIBE”, we hope you find it informative and enjoyable and that in time you will become one of our regular subscriber. THE EDITOR’S CORNER Commencing with this issue, The Eighth Tribe will carry "The Transylvanian Quarterly” as a supplement to the Eighth Tribe. It will be published every third month. It is our pleasure to greet all the members of the Transylvania Federation here in the United States and all over the world — welcome to the family readership of the Eighth Tribe. We ask all the branches of the Transylvania Federation to send in a summary of their monthly activities. The Eighth Tribe will have one page set aside for this purpose, edited by Dr. Wass. * # * Our congratulations to Rt. Rev. The American Hungarian Federation is an integral part of the American-Hungarian Community and should work together as part of our family. We hope the new president will choose the Eighth Tribe as the voice of the AHF. » * * May I remind all the pastors and presbyters of our Reformed Churches of the Presbyter’s Association’s recommendation, at the September meeting, that every family belonging to their church should receive this magazine, along with the church papers. Many years ago I witnessed a scene which I will never forget. It was the reflection of a true spirit of a real togetherness in a congregation. The pastor, presbyters and church members were all working together, digging and carrying dirt as they enlarged the basement of their church. That was the kind of spirit that prevailed when our parents built our great churches and social halls, and established our Fraternal Societies. ^ ith that kind of spirit, we can achieve many great things. I would also like to ask our catholic pastors and church lay-leaders to send in more information about their church, church activities and their plans for the future. As we said before: This Magazine belongs to the American-Hungarian Community of all creeds and all generations. * * * This editor would like to express deep appreciation to the pastor and members of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Duquesne, Pa., for the courtesy they extended to him on September 30th.
