February, 1978 THE EIGHTH TRIBE Page 15 A TRIBUTE TO OUR ANCESTORS The Hungarian Business Association’s Dinner-Dance, October 15, 1977 Pittsburgh, Pa. The Hungarian Business Association’s dinnerdance in Pittsburgh was a great success. The gala evening was planned and organized by Dr. and Mrs. István Tuba, and was held at the Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge in Monroeville, Pa. Mrs. I. S. Tuba, chairwoman of the evening, with Mrs. I. Kovach, display committee member in front of ALFÖLD’S section of embroidery displays. The Hungarian afternoon started at 4 p.m. with the art and folk displays and bazaar. Artists, Ildikó Berger (Silver Springs, Md.) and Katalin Vietorisz Lack (Minetonka, 111.) came from afar to bring and to sell us their distinctive hand made crafts. Mr. Denes Dietrich (Magyar Aruhaz) from Cleveland brought us special Herendi figurines, Hungarian records and lots of other objects imported from Hungary. The Bethlen Press was selling Hungarian hooks, and our magazine, The Eighth Tribe was also on display. Popular music was played by a youth orchestra from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The dinner started at 7:30 p.m. sharp for the 215 guests in the main ballroom. There were lots of compliments for the deliciously prepared roast beef and stuffed pork chop dinners. Immediately after dinner the program started with Mrs. Peter Gaal’s short welcome speech, followed by Mrs. Borbála Kerékgyártó reciting an outstanding poem by László Könnyű “Let’s hold each Mrs. Joseph Rokop, ball committee member, and Mrs. István Tuba in front of ERDÉLY display section. other’s hand.” The toastmaster, Dr. Julius Kesseru’s fifteen minute “roast” made everyone laugh. He certainly had lots of good jokes in store for us. The finale of the program was the appearance of the Hungarian Ethnic Group of Western Pa. (Mrs. Maivene Heyz, president) performing dances from different parts of Hungary. Every one of us loved them dearly. Their costumes were as pretty as their dances. Mickey’s popular orchestra played ball dance music (old fashioned and popular) from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. The ball committee: Mrs. P. Gaal, Mrs. S. Gergely, Mrs. Wm. Gluck, Mrs. S. Korosmezei, Mrs. T.
