On July 4,1776, the bell of freedom rang out across this nation, calling men and women to the cause of liberty and justice for all. Now two hundred years young, we are the custodians of that bell, but more importantly, the guardians of that noble cause. Let us never forget the precious heritage of democracy bequeathed to us by our founding fathers... or of the responsibility we have to keep it intact

and to pass it on unblemished to succeeding generations.
