It's September and time to go back to school, Where we’ll learn, play, and obey the golden rule. It’s time for reading, writing, and arithmetic, Taught to the tune of a hickory stick. With my bookbag on and my new school clothes, I’m excited and smiling from my head to my toes. I’ve got my lunch in an old lard bucket, Hopefully, there's no lard in it, I might upchuck it. I think the school bell just rang, And time to start class with a bang! The lessons and homework are on the blackboard; I hope we don’t have to take tests anymore. We’ll study our lessons and take a nap, And then wake up and eat a snack. I’d like to put a frog on Lucille’s lap, But if I do, I’ll be in the corner with a dunce cap. Hopefully, I don't see that ol’ bully Stephen, Because if he takes my lunch money, I'm gonna get even. Maybe my sweetheart and I will go steady, I like Evelyn but Evelyn likes Eddie. School is fun and learning is great, But I stilLcan’Ussait for Christmas break!!
