His name is Chester Reineke. Chester will soon be celebrating his 100th birthday on Septem­ber 3, 2001 and is counting the days until his celebration. Chester E. Reineke was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on Sep­tember 3, 1901. He and his late wife, Beulah, have one son, Robert residing in Lexington, Kentucky. Chester has one grandson, Mark and two great-grandchil­dren, Emma and Jack. Chester is a graduate of West He has lived in the Ligonier area since 1965. When asked about what changes have been the most memorable during the last 100 years, he commented that he has enjoyed seeing the big­gest change in the medical field and how they are able to treat the people with today's medications and medical equipment. An Open House is planned on September 3rd at The Bethlen Home for Chester and his family. Resident Chester Reineke enjoying the outdoors. IN THE GARDEN Throughout the summer, residents have enjoyed the beautiful flowers in the memorial garden located on the second floor patio of the facility. A recent addition was added to the garden "Thanks" to cottage resident Helen Rose. Among the newly planted flowers you will find a beautiful birdbath in memory of former residents. "Thanks Helen" for add­ing that special touch to the garden. In order for a garden to look beautiful, it requires a lot of tender loving care which is given each day by cottage resident Terez Kaszap. Faithfully every morning, you can find Terez out watering, weeding and planting. "Thank you" for all your hard work that you've done throughout the summer to beautify our gardens and Home. We appreciate it very much. 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED "Congratulations" to resident Genevie Stitely and her husband Robert who recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary here at the nursing home with an open house with their family. Many "Thanks" to the Stitely family for inviting the staff to participate in their celebration. The refresh­ments were greatly appreciated. WE NEED YOUR HELP In 1921 The Bethlen Home began as a Children's Home. For 50 + years The Home housed and nur­tured more than 1600 children. As we celebrate our 80th Anniversary, we are trying to contact employ­ees and children who may have worked or lived at the Children's Home.
