âctüutp ®ígí)lígí)tő HOLIDAY GIFT SUGGESTIONS FOR RESIDENTS IN LONG TERM CARE The Holiday Season is just around the corner and many people have already started their holiday shopping. As the season approaches, many people ask for gift ideas for someone in a nursing home. Below are a few suggestions that may be helpful for your holiday shopping list. Stationary and Stamps Toiletries such as deodorants, posters, efferdent tablets, dental adhesive, tissues, cologne and aftershaves. Puzzle books in large print. Newspaper and magazine subscriptions or renewals to their favorite magazines. Books on tape if they own a tape player. Clock with large numbers for their room. Cork board or bulletin board to display photos and greeting cards. Gift certificate for a perm, haircut or manicure with the nursing home's beautician. Gift certificate for local restaurant who delivers pizza, etc. for those days when a resident wants something different then what's on the menu. Photo albums to display loved one's pictures or perhaps make a photo album or wall picture display of the resident's family members. Radio or tape player with music tapes of soothing music. Arrange a special day to visit and take the resident out for lunch or arrange to have a meal with them at the facility. A roll of quarters or spending money for the resident to use on vending machines, etc. in the facility. ADVENT MEMORIAL SERVICE This past Spring, The Bethlen Home held it's first memorial service to honor the memory of former residents and loved ones by starting a Memorial Garden, which is located off the 2nd floor patio. Services will be held twice a year to honor those who were once residents here at The Bethlen Home. Sunday, December 3rd will be our first Advent Service. Details will be sent out to families of former residents in November. We plan on lighting a Christmas tree to commemorate the memory of former residents and loved ones with a candlelight service to be held in the late afternoon. , Families will be invited to bring a nonbreakable ornament to be placed on the tree or a poinsettia to represent their loved one. We look forward to this time to gi thanks to God for people whom we continue to hold dear.
