, ICE A world encased in ice, a glittering crystal world, extends around me. During the night, fine, freezing rain drifted down, and on this mid-January morning the rising sun highlights gray birches burdened with ice and bending low, snowdrifts armor-plated with glaring crusts, stone walls sheathed in smooth, transparent shells. SNOWFLAKE BALL Residents will have an opportunity to enjoy another dinner dance in January similar to the Harvest Ball which was held in 1998. Gowns will be made available to the ladies and suits to our gentlemen. Families are also welcome to bring in clothing that their loved ones may want to wear for the event. A CHRISTMAS CAROL Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight! Christmas in lands of the fir tree and pine, Christmas in lands of the palm tree and vine, Christmas where snow-peaks stand solemn and white, Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight! Christmas where children are hopeful and gay,' Christmas where old men are patient and gray, Christmas where peace, like a dove in its flight, Broods o'er brave men in the thick of the fight. Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight! For the Christ Child who comes is the Master of all, No palace too great and no cottage too small; The angels who welcome him sing from the height "In the City of David, a King in His might." Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight! Then let every heart keep its Christmas within, Christ's pity for sorrow, Christ's hatred for sin, Christ's care for the weakest, Christ's courage for right, Christ's dread of the darkness, Christ's love of the light, Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight! So the stars of the midnight which compass round Shall see a strange glory, and hear a sweet sound, And cry, "Look!, the earth is aflame with delight, O sons of the morning, rejoice at the sight." Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight! Nominees for Snow Queen will also be held in January. Staff, residents and families will be encouraged to vote. The winner will be crowned the evening of the Snowflake Ball. Details of the event will be announced in our in-house newsletter in January. MERRY CHRISTMAS Rosy feet upon the threshold, Eager faces peeping through, With the first red ray of sunshine, Chanting cherubs come in view: Mistletoe and gleaming holly, Symbols of a blessed day, In their chubby hands they carry, Streaming all along the way.
