P.O. Box 8-0657 HOLIDAY ISSUE • DECEMBER 1998 ptígíjltgíjis "A NIGHT TO REMEMBER" Several months ago the Activity Department took on a project that was suggested by resident Mary Grace Smith. She suggested we hold a prom. So, with that in mind, the Activity Staff went to work. October 22nd was the night of the "Harvest Ball". Our lady residents were dressed in evening gowns do­nated by staff and families. The men looked very hand­some in suits and dress jackets. Father David Griffin, who is head of Campus Ministry at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, provided us escorts for the ladies that evening. As the students arrived that evening, they were as­signed a date with one of our lady residents and would present her with a wrist corsage and be her escort for the evening. As the students returned with their assigned resident to the Dining Room, they had their photo taken un­derneath our lattice archway. The Dining Room was decorated beautifully in a fall theme. An evening of fellowship, dinner and dance was en­Resident Betty Queer with her handsome escort under the archway Resident couple Andy and Evie Aitkens were dancing up a storm joyed by all. The residents are already looking forward to the next Dinner Dance. i A special "Heartfelt Thanks" to Father Griffin and the students of St. Vincent College for making this a "Night to Remember" for our lady residents. We are looking forward to their next visit. "Thanks" to Jennifer Noonan for taking time out to do the photos of the residents and their escorts. They all turned out beautiful. "Thanks" to Mario Battaglia and Laci Kastal for their hard work in preparing the lattice archway for the evening. "Thanks" to the Hoffer Fam­ily of Ligonier Valley Meat Packing for providing a won­derful meal for everyone and the Blair Elton Band for their musical entertainment during the evening. Spe­cial "Thanks" to the Activity Staff for all their hard work that went into making the evening a success. You did a wonderful job, as always!!! Many "Thanks" to the residents for being such good sports in dressing up for the evening. "Thanks" to the families and staff mem­bers who donated evening gowns for the event.
