Jlestfrettt am* IßvoiUzz by Resident Susan Wargo EARL BAKER: RESIDENT Earl is a new admission here at the home. He is 80 years young. He was born and raised in Bakersville, PA. He attended a one room schoolhouse up to the eighth grade in the Stahlstown area. He has two children along with several grand, and great grandchildren of which he is very proud. He is a veteran and belonged to the American Legion. Earl enjoys hunting and fishing and worked as a crane operator in the Latrobe Steel Plant for thirty six years before his retirement. Soon after his retirement, he started working at Idlewild Park as part of the grounds crew. There he helped care for the grounds, trimming, planting flowers, etc. for eleven years. Prior to his admission here, he lived with his daughter. He enjoys living here, but gets lonely for company during the day. His physical condition limits him to leaving the room as often as he would like to. So Early welcomes anyone, and everyone to stop in and get acquainted! Note: Earl lives on the Second Floor, West Wing, Room 210. OTTO HOFFMAN: RESIDENT Otto is also a recent admission here at the home. He is very familiar with the home, due to his wife being a former resident here as well as himself doing volunteer work here for several years. Otto was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He is a retired carpenter and moved to the Ligonier area when his daughters attended college in Grove City. He has enjoyed owning and maintaining his home here in Ligonier for more than 42 years. His favorite hobbies are gardening and traveling to Europe. Otto also enjoyed doing woodwork here for the Activity Department during his volunteer time. He worked very hard preparing projects for us to sell at our Fall Fundraisers. Otto also welcomes anyone to stop in for a visit. His room is located on the Second Floor West Wing, Room 204. PRISCILLA TARR: STAFF MEMBER Priscilla recently has been employed as a Registered Nurse here at Bethlen. You can see her kind and smiling face on the afternoon shift. She is divorced with two children and is a grandmother! (That's hard to believe!). She presently lives in Latrobe, PA. She is a former graduate of Ligonier High School. She also has an associate degree in Business Administration and had worked with computers for many years in Pittsburgh before her job was terminated. Soon after that she started nurses training when she was 53 years old. Priscilla has an Associate Degree in Nursing, attended a three year program and passed the state boards in 1995 from Allegheny Community College at Boyce Park campus. She worked at Bethlen Home during the strike for a short while. She enjoyed her work at the time and after graduation she recently joined our staff. Everyone may be surprised to know she is a licensed pilot for a single engine plane. She has soloed many times. She enjoys working and maintaining her home and her pet peeve is slow moving traffic in a fast lane. LORI SCHANDELL: STAFF MEMBER Lori also recently joined our staff here at the home as a Registered Nurse. She recently graduated from Nursing School from Connemaugh Hospital in Johnstown. She is also a recent newlywed and is presently buying a house and will be moving into it in August. All of this has happened for her in 1995. Lori is a native of Ligonier and is a graduate of Ligonier High School. She walks every day, enjoys swimming but doesn't care for cooking or housework. She has also decorated cakes for 13 years at the Pie Shop in Laughlintown. She enjoys being here at the Bethlen Home and likes the residents and her co-workers.
