Helen Acs - Resident erűt ce GLovnzv by Pat Armel As we celebrate this Spiritual and Joyous Season, I would like to wish everyone the Happiest of Holidays and best wishes for 1994. Remember: It wouldn’t be Christmas without tree lights gleaming, without children dreaming in anticipation, without people shopping and smiling and stopping to admire decorations, without church bells ringing, without carolers singing, and without sharing the joys of the season. However, then we go into the winter “Blahs”. Let us not forget those in the Nursing Home during the next months. Remember a visit, call, card or a letter will brighten those we care about. JRestfottt, Volunteer Profiles by Resident Susan Wargo Helen Rose Percha - Resident Helen has been a resident here at the Home for several months. She tells us that her parents were born in Hungary and that her father was killed in a mining accident at a young age. When growing up, she lived in the Indiana County area and graduated in 1942 from Homer City High School. Before becoming a widow, she was married for 32 years and has two beautiful daughters, one living in Latrobe, PA and the other in North Braddock, PA. One of her most favorite hobbies was cooking. She especially enjoyed making soups and stuffed cabbage. We were also told by her daughter that she loved to go shopping and be around people. Helen says she’s very happy here and satisfied with her surroundings and her care. We’re glad you’re here with us too, Helen. You lift a lot of spirits! Helen is also of Hungarian descent. She is a native of Trenton, New Jersey, and was married for 47 years before becoming a widow. She has one daughter and three grandchildren, who reside in Las Vegas, Nevada. She claims she has maintained an average life and has enjoyed her Hungarian background and carrying out their traditions throughout her life. She is especially thankful for living such a good life, and to have so many faithful and life-long friends, who to this day keep in close contact with her. One of Helen’s favorite hobbies was baking Hungarian walnut cookies, and volunteering her talents and time to her church. She enjoys crocheting, but is no longer able to enjoy it due to her disabilities. Her pet peeve is when people refuse to accept their disabilities. Helen has been at our facility for over six months. She has brought a lot of happiness to a lot of people. Arlene Boden - Resident Arlene claims to be our only non-white or gray haired resident. Arlene has beautiful red hair. She’s married, with two children, ages 15 and 19, and is from the Wilkensburg area. Besides being a former homemaker, she worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in Herminie, PA. Her strongest memory is of delivering a baby. Her favorite food is cheesecake, and she enjoys knitting, crocheting, and playing cards. Her disability has left her legally blind, so she also enjoys listening to the “Talking Books” from the School for the Blind. She also feels that she is in a good caring place. Arlene has been at Bethlen for several months. You can always find a great big smile on her face. We’re glad you’re here with us, Arlene! ®I im Administrator..................
