®Ip ^Roaming ^Reporter by Resident Olga Szabo It’s a baby boom around the Bethlen Home lately. Congratulations to Wendy and Curt Kenley, who are expecting their second child. Wendy’s delivery date is late October. She informs us daughter Danielle can hardly wait for her brother or sister. We wish you both much happiness. Our midnight nurse, Cathy Smith, will soon be delivering her little one. Her due date is in June. Time is getting closer, but Cathy informs us that her nursery is all done in pink, and she’s ready! Congratulations to Reverend Paul and Edith Kovács, who recently became grandparents for the second time. God blessed them with a grandson, born to daughter Ruthie on April 12th. Both Ruthie and son are doing well. Welcome Back wishes go out to co-worker Marilyn Toner, who recently returned back to work from her short stay in the hospital. We missed you. Come look us over in the newly painted and decorated Activity Department. The best Activity Department in the state! Residents are starting on new projects. Work starts early for the annual Fall Bazaar. Resident Carl Rogers will start to assemble a doll house, a special project donated by the Park Doll House Company in Ligonier. Rose and Annette, mother and daughter, are both experts in doll houses and collector’s items. Resident Marie Seiling has the sewing machine humming. Resident Susan Wargo is busy working with her hands creating ceramics. Resident Elizabeth Toth, who is also known as our in-house chef among the residents, is busy adding water to her pot to make her famous homemade chicken soup. This cures all aches and pains. Elizabeth has many other talents, but her specialty is her cooking. As always, the Gift Shop is open for business as usual seven days a week. The shop has just received many new spring and summer items. You will always find a smiling face behind the counter, especially our resident Olga Szabo, who is our number one sales lady in the country. She could sell you a bucket of air if the price was right! Now I call that salesmanship! Pictured below is resident Olga Szabo helping one of our regular customers, Dennis, who works in the Physical Therapy Department. Dennis is also our #1 raffle winner! Congratulations go out to our Administrative Secretary Diane Hakel, who is planning an August 1995 wedding. We wish you and Carl nothing but the best. Thront tip ÿesk oî foetal jierlitcß by Pat Armel With the recent death of President Nixon, it has been brought to our attention the need for a Living Will. It was reported that he had a Living Will and his wishes were honored. Medical science is amazing in its ability to cure and to prolong life. Yet, while it can be a great friend, many people are sometimes kept alive by machines that only prolong their dying or subject them to great pain. ADVANCE DIRECTIVES ~ the Living Will and the durable power of attorney for healthcare. There are legal documents that help people to make known their wishes about medical treatments if they should be unable to express their wishes because of unconsciousness or senility. Medical decisionsareoften life-and-death decisions. They involve our fundamental beliefs about life, health and well-being, and death. In the near future, we will have a speaker here at the Bethlen Home to discuss Advance Directives. Please watch for the time and date to be posted at the Nursing Home or call Pat Armel, Social Service, for more information. BLOOD DONORS NEEDED Once again, the Bethlen Home will be sponsoring an American Red Cross Bloodmobile. Our scheduled date is Monday, August 8,1994. The time is 10-4. Our
