The Activity Department raised over $3,000.00 during the sale. The proceeds benefit the Resident Activity Fund. A variety of crafts, homemade candies, raffles, etc. were available for sale to the staff and to the public. Thanks, everyone, for your support in this worthy cause. PHOTO MEMORY DAY Recently, during coffee hour, we encouraged the residents to dig out several of theirfavorite family photos to share. The photos were unbelievable. We were shown pictures of graduation, bathing the little kiddies, beautiful bridal pictures, etc. Everyone enjoyed hearing the stories behind the photos. The next photo session will be held in June. Thanks, everyone, for your participation. May 1993 celebrated the changing of new officers for the Bethlen Home Volunteer Group. The new officers are as follows, and we wish them much success during their term in office: VOLUNTEER PRESIDENT: NANCY ROBERTSON VICE PRESIDENT: OLGA SZABO SECRETARY: ROBERTA MAYER SUB-SECRETARY: BEASY MACK I would like to take this opportunity to “WELCOME” several new volunteers to our facility. We appreciate the kindness, dedication and support you have given to our residents and to the Activity Department. We are looking forward to sharing many more good times in years to come. “WELCOME”, Elizabeth Gallo and Harvey Frazier. During the month of April, the Bethlen Home acknowledged their Volunteers with a special luncheon and award program during National Volunteer Recognition Week. Fifty-four volunteers were able to attend the event. A great afternoon of fellowship was enjoyed by all. Two special awards were presented that afternoon: to Bobby Burkhart who was Volunteer of the Year, and to Virginia Woodward who was leaving her term of office as Volunteer President. We are very proud of all our volunteers. HONORING MOTHER This year, the Activity Department sent special invitations out to the daughters, nieces, and daughter-inlaws of our lady residents to help celebrate Mother’s Day. Special entertainment of a puppet show and music was presented, along with refreshments of strawberry shortcake and various snacks. The response from the families was outstanding, and the residents really enjoyed that “special time” with their loved ones. Thanks, everyone, for making the event such a great success. JUNE Up to my heart in JUNE again, Daft and drenched in its tune again, Over my head in the warm gold mist On valley and hill that June has kissed! In the sky is a lark with the sun in his throat; Bees drone in grasses, sleepy, remote. I remember all good, as June keeps giving So much of music and beauty living; I lie on a bank by the bladed clod, My ear to the heart of earth and God.
