THANKS FOR BEING SO SPECIAL I would like to take this opportunity to “Thank” everyone for making our residents feel special during the holiday season. This year’s project on the Presents for Patients Campaign was very successful through the support of family and friends. This enabled us to give each resident two Christmas gifts. One gift was received from the sponsor of Presents for Patients and the other gift was from the Activity Department. Again, 1 thank you for opening your hearts our residents feel special. Special appreciation to the following: Fort Allen Elementary School Adopt A Grandparent Program Ligonier Junior High School Adopt a Grandparent Program Hungarian Reformed Church of Duquesne, Rev. and Mrs. Lajos Illés and the women’s group Rev. Oesterlin and the Willing Workers of the Lutheran Church in Ligonier Dr. Eva Fabian and members of the Covenant United Church of Christ in McKeesport, PA Residents enjoyed a special outing for dinner at Denny’s and to view the Christmas lights. A tour of St. Vincent College, Latrobe, Ligonier Diamond, and Derry were highlights on the tour of lights. “Special Thanks” to Denny’s for their help and donation of our Volunteers’ meals. It was very thoughtful and very much appreciated. Residents started to ring in the New Year early on the eve of New Year’s. Traditional items such as party hats, noisemakers, champagne and song were very much a part of the festivities. A fun time was had by all, or could it have been the champagne???? Pictured below and on the next page are several highlight photos from the Holiday Season. Laurel Valley School Nurses Club Rev. HOLIDAY MEMORIES During the Holiday Season, the Activity Department likes to keep the residents busy here at the Bethlen Home through parties, decorating, outings, etc. One of the most enjoyable programs this Holiday Season was the Resident Christmas Party sponsored by the Activity Department. Each resident was able to receive a special gift from Santa during the party. This also gave residents an opportunity to get in any last wishes before the Holiday! Special entertainment was provided by the Blair O’Neal Band. A fun time was had by all, and even Santa had the opportunity to dance a few jigs. Volunteer Nellie Welty and Santa give the dance floor a whirl during the Resident Christmas Party.
