Fall 2010 Branch 300 — Washington, DC An Evening of Music and Hungarian Fellowship Hungarian Reunion, July 17, 2010 About 6o members and former members enjoyed a lovely time at the Covenant Presbyterian Church. On August 23rd, about 60 guests enjoyed the concert of the Török Siblings in the Kossuth House organized by HRFA and the Hungarian Embassy. Tilla, Flóra, Ádám and their friend, János Haskó, gave a unique performance of folk music which was a memorable event for everyone who attended. Before every song, the siblings explained the origins and the use of the musical instruments they were about to play. Tilla, Flóra, and Ádám are ethnic Hungarians from Vajdaság (Vojvodina), an autonomous province in Serbia. Tilla plays the violin and the tilinka and studies at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy in Budapest while working on her Master of Arts degree in folk music. Flóra plays the violin and studies information technology at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Ádám plays the flute and kaval and studies Business Economics in Budapest. The Török Siblings strive for the authentic sounds of Hungarian folk music and also perform their own interpretations. Their American tour included a performance in New Brunswick, NJ. The audience was appreciative of the opportunity to hear Hungarian music as it was originally performed, especially by these young scholars from Budapest.
