MARCH 15TH CELEBRATION / NEW MEMBER PROFILE the wonderful Hungarian cakes and cookies and hot coffee that was served. Thanks to all who worked so hard, made the delicious pastries, and prepared this successful program. BRANCH 300 Washington, DC Branch 300 celebrated the March 15, 1848 Revolution on Friday, March 13 at the Kossuth House in Washington, DC. This event commemorated the 161st anniversary of the 1848-49 Hungarian Revolution and Freedom Fight. A video program that related Hungary’s history leading to the March 15th Freedom Fight was produced and narrated by Home Office staff Melinda Trinfuly and Petra Fehérvári. HRFA President Leslie László Megyeri welcomed the attendees that included Branch 300 members, guests from the Hungarian Embassy, Capitol Hill and the Hungarian community-at-large. A reception followed the wreath-laying in front of the Kossuth House, and the evening was capped by a recitation of some of Sándor Petőfi’s finest poems by Anikó Oláh. An election of officers was also held following the reception, and Branch # 300 welcomes and congratulates its 2009- 2010 leadership: President, Atilla Kocsis; Vice-President, Anikó Oláh; and Treasurer, Paul Kamenar. BRANCH 368-Passaic, NJ Raising the Hungarian Flag in front of Clifton City Hall. Rev. László Vas, Pastor of the St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Magyar Church, Passaic, NJ, Mayor James Anzaldi, Joe Házi and Ted Harsaghy attended the celebration along with the members of the St. Stephen’s Magyar Church. PROFILE OF AN HRFA MEMBER, GABOR TOZSER By Kathy A. Megyeri Another of our newest, youngest, handsome, and most talented HRFA members travels regularly between Budapest and Washington, DC as the CEO of an international consulting firm. Gabor was bom in Eger but left Hungary in 1993 as a foreign exchange student to attend high school in Minnesota at Minnetonka Senior High School. After a year of studying in the USA as the recipient of a SOROS Foundation scholarship, he completed his university degree in mathematics and computer science at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, my own alma mater. Following his university studies, Gabor worked for Retek Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he had the opportunity to work with the best retail ERP software vendor in the market.
