FRATERNAL PROJECTS / STUDENT AID HRFA'S FRATERNAL PROJECTS PROJECT-FLIP-FLOPS FOR CANCER PATIENTS Free minutes between sessions at HRFA’s convention in Ligonier, PA provided time for home office staff, delegates and ladies who attended an opportunity to decorate flip-flops for cancer patients at the National Institutes of Flealth in Bethesda, MD. Following radiation or chemotherapy treatments, female cancer patients are given a pair of decorated flip- flops with a note conveying ‘Get Well’ wishes from FIRFA members. The gifts have been delivered and special thanks go to everyone who pitched in to help make others’ days more cheery. CANNED FOOD DRIVE PROJECT Martin Luther King’s Birthday has long been dedicated as a day of service in his honor. The Flome Office of FIRFA held a canned food drive and local members, with their usual enthusiasm and kindness, responded well. Two large cases of canned food were taken to Martha’s Table Soup Kitchen in Washington, DC that has for many years served meals to the homeless. We thank those who sent in donations which were taken to the facility on Jan. 19th. STUDENT AID RECIPIENTS The Student Aid Fund of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America is accepting donations. Since we are a tax-exempt fraternal organization, the amount of your contribution is deductible from your personal income taxes. Your generous donation allows many young members of the HRFA to partake in the wonderful opportunities higher education has to offer. STUDENT AID DONATIONS: We would like to express thanks to the following former scholarship recipients for donating towards the Student Aid Fund in the past year. Andrew Wolf, who received a scholarship in 1943, donated $1000, and Robert Csemak, who received a scholarship in 2005, donated $100. KARI REDA - Member of Branch 151 My name is Kari Reda.
