CONVENTION Further discussion of the By- Laws followed. The newly adopted By-Laws with all the changes accepted by the Convention are printed as an addendum to this issue of the Fraternity. The By-Laws are inserted in this issue The morning discussions were discontinued due to the arrival of the Senator from the State of Pennsylvania. Rev. Imre Bertalan welcomed and introduced Don C. White, Pennsylvania State Senator for the Ligonier District. He spoke to the members of the Convention and indicated that HRFA’s efforts and facilities were known to him and he was going to visit the the Bethlen Communities. He presented a Proclamation from the Pennsylvania State Senate honoring HRFA on the occasion of our 38th Quadrennial Convention. Among the reports presented was the report of the Strategic Planning Committee by Rev. Leslie E. Martin. The Convention extended its thanks to Rev. Martin and the committee members for their fine reports and hard work. Mr. William Nicholas gave the report on the Student Aid Fund. HRFA granted a $500 scholarship to one student and $600 scholarships to 85 students in the last four years totaling $51,500. The total donations in the Student Aid Fund for the last four years were $14,703.25. The delegates then attended their respective Convention Committee meetings. Rev. Albert W. Kovács offered prayers for the closing of the second day. Dinner in the evening was in the Linden Room of the Bethlen Home. On the third day of the Convention, devotionals were offered by Rev. Leslie E. Martin. After the roll call, minutes from the previous day were read and approved. Chairman Morey said that James Szuch wanted to thank everyone for their condolences for the death of his mother. Following the opening session, the delegates returned to their committee meetings. The Convention delegates returned in the afternoon for a Plenary session to elect the District members of the Board of Directors and their alternates. The Convention delegates released the Board of Directors from their duties and responsibilities. Retiring Board members are: Priscilla Hunyady, William B. Puskas, Jr., Joseph Kovács, Helen Szabó, William A. Nicholas, and Michael Pauli, Jr. Mr. William B. Puskas, Jr. was appointed as temporary chair for the duration of the election. Mr. László Lipoczky was appointed Sergeant-at- Arms, while Rev. Peter Toth, the Rev. Alexander Jalso, and Mr. Michael Walker were appointed as tellers. Mr. Leslie Megyeri tallied the results, which are as follows: Eastern District (New York, Connecticut, Florida, and DC) - One Director. The Board member elected is Mr. László Hamos; alternate-Frank Kapitan.
