Calvin Synod Conference Seventh Annual Meeting The meeting commenced with an opening of Worship and Holy Communion held at the Bethlen Chapel, Ligonier, PA on May 20th in the morning. More than 60 participants at­tended the service followed by lunch. Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig welcomed all Delegates, Ministers and Guests to the Annual meeting of the Calvin Synod. Participants in the service in addition to Bishop Ludwig were: Rt. Rev. Jo­seph Vásárhelyi, Auxiliary Bishop; Rev. Zsolt Otvos, General Secretary; Mrs. Lisa S. Toth- Maskarinec, Synod Treasurer; Mr. Lehel Deák, Synod Presbyter; Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Dean, Central Classis; Rev. István Kacso, Dean, Western Classis; Ms. Helen Rose, Organist. Warm Up America Warm up America is a nationwide network of volun­teers who create handmade crocheted and knitted afghans to help those in need. These items provide warmth and comfort to people in Nursing Homes, Veterans Homes, Hospitals and Hospices. Churches, Aids Facilities. Homeless Shelters, The American Red Cross, Day Care Centers and Children’s Hospitals. The simple concept (directions to follow) is to cro­chet or knit 7” by 9” rectangles in the comfort of ones home or as groups in a community. These are later dropped off at any Michael’s Arts and Crafts Store or any A. C. Moore Store for joining into afghans in the months of November or December. Participation can be done even if a person doesn’t know how to knit or crochet by volunteering a friend or relative to do the work or by donating yarn or needles for the project. The most recent partnership Warm Up America has made in addition to Save The Children, is with Ronald treatment. Warm Up America has already begun provid­ing them with the much- needed afghans. Create 7-inch x 9-inch rectangular sections using any basic knitting or crochet patterns. Drop your sections in the collection bin at your favorite Michaels store, and sign the Contributor List lo­cated next to the bin. McDonald House Charities.
