We will continue addressing your questions and concerns, regarding purchasing life insurance and becoming a member of HRFA. Q. “I purchased a certificate from HRFA, hut now / have decided that / don’t want it. My agent told me / have a “free look’’ period. What does “free look” mean? A. A “free look period” means that once you have purchased a life insurance policy, there is a period of time you have to review the policy contract, change your mind, and still get a full refund. At HRFA, you have 30 days to look over your new policy and change your mind without losing any money. Q. “Can HRFA void my membership certificate if I make a mistake in completing the application?” A. HRFA may contest your certificate for material misrepresentation during the first two years from its date of issue. In that case, HRFA will refund all premium dues paid. Q. “A family member has passed away. 1 am sure that he had a membership certificate with HRFA but / cannot find a policy. How can I check to see if he had one ?” A. Contact your nearest branch representative or the home office. We can check to see if your belated family member was a member of HRFA and had a policy in force. If so, we can send you a Request for Issuance of Duplicate Certificate form. Q. “What is underwriting?” A. Underwriting is the process of selecting applicants HRFA is willing to admit for membership based on the risk of providing coverage. The cost of coverage is based on age, gender, and health habits (smoking, being overweight, etc.) If you have additional questions please send them to me at the Home Office and I will answer them privately or in our next issue of the Fraternity.
