HRFA at 52nd Annual Hungarian Scout Festival in Cleveland Every year during Labor Day weekend AHFS (American Hungarian Friends of Scouting) organizes a Scout Heritage Day. This traditional annual event celebrated its 52nd year on Sunday, September 2, 2007. It was also a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the World Scouting Movement. HRFA President Balogh and National Fraternal/Training Director Zambo made a special trip to Cleveland to represent HRFA over two days of the festival. All 3,000 people who attended passed by our strategically located promotional table, which had flyers, magnets, the Csardas CD and DVD’s we cosponsored, as well signup sheets for prizes we offered. This was an excellent start on re-establishing the HRFA BRAND in this hotbed of Hungarian American society. People went for the delicious Hungarian foods and pastries, live music, folk dancing and fun. They could learn to dance Csárdás, watch soccer games and buy books on Hungarian book sale. The Hungarian Scout Folk Ensemble was performing in authentic, colorful, hand-made costumes. In the Hungarian Village participants could watch local artisans craft their wares: candle-making, gingerbread decorating, decorative wall painting, woodcarving. There were also special programs for kids. They could enjoy a live animal program, nature exhibits and free arts and crafts. They could also try their skill at the village games.
