Üsztürü Folk Music Ensemble On July 1st, 2007 Üsztürü Folk Music Ensemble - at the Anderson House HRFA hosted a performance of the Üsztürü Folk Music Ensemble at the Anderson House, in the most elegant surroundings in Washington DC. The ÜSZTÜRÜ Folk Music Ensemble was founded in 1992 by four young Hungarian musicians in Eastern Transylvania's largest city, Marosvásárhely. They had close connections to the communities where Hungarian folk music was still a living tradition. They joined to ensure the survival of traditional Hungarian Music. They have traveled around the villages of Transylvania to study from the greatest masters of Hungarian folk music. The ÜSZTÜRÜ Ensemble plays the authentic village music of Transylvania and Hungary in an exciting performance. The Ensemble is also at home in performing all Hungarian folk musical dialects from the Austrian border to the Eastern slopes of the Carpathian Mountains. Performing with the group are Moldovan Horvath István on violin, Major Levente on violin, Szász József, on viola and cimbalom, Nagy Zsolt on viola, Szász Lőrinc on bass, singer Nyitrai Marianna and dancers Kis István and Redő Júlia. They were brilliantly dressed in traditional Hungarian costumes. Fraternity - Testvériség - Fall 2007 Page 11
