HRFA had two guests from Hungary (below): Dr. Kecsmár Lajos and Papp György Of those who gave their lives: Szívós Mihály was the first executed on November 12 1956. Mansfeld Peter was the youngest martyr. He was 16 years old when “people’s courts” sentenced to death and his murderers waited until he became 18 to execute him. Twenty five percent of the executed were 21 -25 year old. The oldest was Szörtsey István, 66 years old. Nickelburg László was the last known executed on August 26, 1961 One of them was Angyal István the heroic leader of the Tűzoltó utca fighting group. On April 17, 1958 the Tutsek court sentenced him to death. (Tutsek Gusztáv was known as one of the most bloodthirsty judges of the post revolution reprisal area. (We wonder what happened to Tutsek Gusztáv?) At his sentencing Angyal Pista demanded that he be executed. “I can’t live without birdsong and without flowers. 1 demand to be hanged.” he said. He was executed on December 1, 1958. His last words, before being hanged were: "Hungary always fought for the freedom of all mankind. It was an honor to be the son of such a nation."
