HRFA Kossuth House Activities HRFA Kossuth House 1956 Commemoration In a very moving tribute to those who gave their lives for freedom from the Soviet communist oppression in Hungary in 1956, Washington area members and friends read the names of 365 persons who were executed by the Soviets. After a memorable performance of Beethoven's 7th Symphony, 2nd movement by the American University symphony orchestra wind ensemble, and recital of poems by Anikó Oláh commemorating 1956, we honored and remembered the heroes of the revolution who gave their life for freedom. Instead of speeches, the members and guests lit candles and read the names of the patriots who, after a show trial by “people’s courts” were executed by the communist regime of Hungary.
