The Ohio District Meeting was held in the Lórantffy Care Center in Akron, and was led by Vice Chair John Morey and Director Bill Nicholas. Host Elizabeth Schmidt was extremely gracious with her hospitality. Others who attended were Marge Nicholas, Pat Morey, Ed Szabó, Irma Carnevale and Dezső Kovács, Jolán and József Abel. Participants brought breakfast/brunch items for the “feed the children” charity program. President Balogh also con­tributed with boxes of cereal and milk. Ohio District Meeting Elizabeth Schmidt, Marge Nicholas, Ed Szabó, Jolán Abel and Joseph Abel. Ohio District meeting Director Nicholas opened up the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, emphasizing: “....one nation under God...”. President Balogh then greeted the assembly and presented a slide show on the many fraternal successes at HRFA over the past year. These included: . the Silver level award of NFCA for FIRFA’s fraternal accomplishments; . HRFA received the lifetime achievement award from the Birmingham Ethnic Festival in Toledo; . three HRFA Fratemalists Received MVP Awards from NFCA: Peggy Fabri, Marge Nicholas, Margaret Pauli, Jr.; Maria Kovács and others are being nominated for this year; . Judit Zambo, Elected to Board of Directors of Florida Fraternal Congress; . HRFA led in showcasing Hungarian culture in the US: e.g. the Kabar Village Orchestra of Sagotarjan, Hungary; . creating the HRFA Táncház series; . supporting the Scouts; . supporting freedom of assembly in Kos­suth Square in Budapest; supporting 1956 celebrations across the U.S. Mr. Balogh then emphasized that these events raised brand equity, and that fraternal events were necessary to create leads for sales.
