Fraternity- Testvériség Page 17 Magic in the Kitchen: Marika Kovács and her helper László Hunyadi customer and closing the sale quickly to both parties’ satisfaction. He also expressed how his appreciation for the warm welcome that was extended to us by our hosts and that made him feel at home. Marika Kovács and her hard-working team dished up a luscious lunch. Our thanks goes out to Hunyadi László, Marika Körömi, Edith Kallay, Joe and Marika Kovács and all those who worked so hard days in advance -before the meeting even started- to present us with all the delicious feasts for the two days. The afternoon session started with Mr. Balogh’s slide show of the selling process. He handed out new brochures and a data form specifically designed for HRFA agents so they can take it to the meetings to help their work. Handouts of the selling program were ready for the participants to take home as well. Mr. Balogh spoke about HRFA’s incentive programs, and he asked for participants’ opinions about HRFA. He also wanted to uncover the areas that our branches and the Hungarians in the district might need help with. The day culminated with the official presentation of a plaque of honor to Mr. Kovács by the President and the CFO to acknowledge him for his tireless fraternal and sales effort. Congratulations, Mr. Kovács! The following day, we attended a service in the Holy Trinity Church and wrapped up the IN/IL District Meeting with a good-bye lunch. The gulyás was fabulous, and so was the “lekváros és diós palacsinta.” After lunch, a beautiful afghan, donated by Mrs. Kathy Megyeri for the 3rd year in a row was raffled off. Thank you, Kathy, from all of us for your continous support in many areas! The happy winner, Marika Kovács, really deserved the gift for her tireless work both in the kitchen and in the meeting room. This weekend was a joy both for our minds and our stomachs, and we were filled with intellectual and material nutriments. We learned many new useful and practical techniques in an environment that made us feel comfortable and welcome as only home can be! Thank you all in Chicago who worked so hard. Also, thanks to the presenters for their meaningful words and the lessons we learned. Now it’s up to us to implement them and become successful sellers and fratemalists! OH District Meeting - February 18, 2006 The morning was cold and white. The snow was about 4 inches thick on the car when I got to the parking lot so I started my day with a remarkable exercise: tossing off the snow from the windshield and side windows. It was a very unique experience, something that we do not get to do in Florida. People started arriving at 9 in the morning to the Bethlen Hall of the First Hungarian Reformed Church in Walton Hills, OH. I was worried if anybody would show up due to the weather, but we had a small, enthusiastic group gathered when Mr. Nicholas opened the meeting. The opening devotion was given by Rev. Frank Varga from Brownstown, Michigan, who attended together with his wife Katalin, the new Area Fraternal Coordinator and Branch Manager for Branch 35. Mr. Balogh opened his presentation with a few words about himself, his business background, how he joined HRFA and his goal for the organization. Thanks to his interactive way of presentation, the audience spontaneously joined in, which turned the first part of our meeting into a very constructive discussion. Besides listening to the plans and the positive approaches we should all incorporate within HRFA, we touched areas that the attendees thought to be important. Soon the meeting turned into an open panel discussion built around the most important topics. We all agreed that HRFA has to compete on service and fraternity to help us grow. We should forget about what was wrong in the past and start building the future. The ratio of Hungarians to non- Hungarians was discussed as well as bringing in youth to L-R: Mr. John Morey, Mrs. Katalin Varga and Rev. Frank Varga
