Fraternity- Testvériség Page 8 Christmas Greetings to the members of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America: “And in that region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, “Be not afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord.” With these words Luke relates the first announcement of the Savior’s arrival to the whole world. These words have been read by millions of Christians throughout the past two thousand years, and each time new hope springs forth in the hearts of those who hear the words of promise. These were the words with which we began our family Christmas celebration every year, as we children sat around the Christmas tree and sang of the angels coming from heaven. Christ came alive for whole generations when we, as children, learned that He too came as a little baby, just as we had. As we matured, we learned that His gift to us is much more than just the presents around a tree, His gift to us is the gift of forgiveness of sins, of new life today and eternal life in the time to come. And by the example He set, we also learned that sharing our blessings within our own family, within our Church family and within the greater families of our fraternal communities, allows us to bring His message to those who have not yet heard the Good News of His coming.
