J Page 6 Fraternity- Testvériség Csángó Hungarian School Dinner Gala The American Hungarian Federation, an organization that promotes Hungarian heritage in America, sponsored a Gala Dinner October 8th, 2005 in East Brunswick, New Jersey, to support the Hungarian schools in the Csángó regions in Romania. The event raised $15,000.00. Our CFO Mr. Megyeri with his wife Kathy Gala program included the New Jersey Scouts group dressed up in traditional garbs and singing traditional songs from the region. The event honored Brother Csaba Bojté whose work helped establish eight homes for abandoned Hungarian orphans in Transylvania. His idea, to build Hungarian schools in regions where Hungarian heritage is being destroyed to maintain Hungarian communities, is supported by donations from various Hungarian cities. Vice-Chair Rev. Leslie Martin, Vice-Chairman of the Board, and his wife, Linda, Rev. Barnabas Roczey and his wife Linda, Professor August Molnár, and Ms. Silvia Fedor, from the treasury department from the Home Office. The event was a wonderful demonstration of sensitivity towards Hungarians in Eastern Europe who are being suppressed. Silvia Fedor Member of Branch 69, 300 and the Home Office The Bethlen Home’s Corner From Bethlen Communities Sight Night Collection Successful When all was said and done, Bethlen Communities collected more than 100 old eyeglasses for Sight Night. Sight Night is part of a national collection drive sponsored by the LensCrafters Foundation in conjunction with Lions Clubs International. Eyeglasses will be recycled and hand-delivered to people in developing countries. Bethlen Home Honors Alzheimer»s Awareness Month In conjunction with November as National Alzheimer»s Disease Awareness Month and in honor of the new A1 zheimer »s/Demen t ia Care wing, Bethlen Home has invited the Alzheimer»s Association to host a special Candlelight Vigil. Following the Candlelight Vigil, which begins at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 7, will be a brief program, »Caring for the Caregiver.Z l offers ways to deal with the stresses of caring for an individual with Alzheimer»s or other dementia. Light refreshments will be prepared by Bethlen Home»s own Dietary staff.. Presents for Patients Bethlen Home and Ligonier Gardens are preparing for our most important fundraiser of the season: •Presents for Patients.Z Anyone interested in helping can donate $25.00 to the Presents for Patients fund. This will sponsor one of our residents, who will receive a present at Christmas, purchased and wrapped by our Activity staff.
