The Bethlen Home was represented by Rev. Imre A. Bertalan and his wife Magdalene Ujvagi. The ball was also attended by Mr. Leslie L. Megyeri from HRFA and the Rev. and Mrs. Ferenc Varga from Allen Park. The Hungarian Arts Club is a dedicated organization, whose many members work hard to keep our rich culture alive. We thank all the members of this great organization for their hard work! With the help of the Bethlen Home and HRFA Branch 198, young Imre E. Bertalan organized a youth game night on February 12, at the Bethlen Home. Young people from the Ligonier Valley High School as well as the Valley Youth Network came together for an evening of board games and fellowship. These young people are always involved in our community and ready to lend a helping hand. We were happy to sponsor this event and hope to be able to bring this group of enthusiastic young adults together again! Members of HRFA Branch 198 baked Hungarian pastry for residents and employees of the Bethlen Home for Valentine’s Day. By baking a special treat, we wanted to show our appreciation for the Home’s workers for their dedicated service. The Home sponsored a King and Queen competition, something the residents look forward every year. This year’s King and Queen were Mr. Julius Kovács and Ms. Rose Leshow. May 7, 2005: Join Hands Day Join Hands Day Join Hands Day is the national day each year when youths and adults tackle a local problem right where they live. They work as equal partners to plan and carry out a project together. The HRFA calls its branches to participate in projects that build bridges of understanding, trust, and respect between generations, while helping improve lives, neighborhoods and communities. One of the first steps in getting the youth involved could be to ask for their help with pre-registration. Why preregister? You will be connected to the Join Hands Day Action Center that will send national releases encouraging the media to check out the Join Hands Day website for projects in their area. This way you may be contacted by local newspapers, TV and radio stations, and get the publicity you need to get people involved. We encourage our smaller branches to contact each other and see if they can participate in a project together. You can also contact your Area Fraternal Coordinators as well as the National Coordinator Judit Zambo at (941) 360-2071 or fraternal@hrfa.org for any help you might need. We are glad to assist you with anything we possibly can. Let’s make this year’s Join Hands Day a huge success again!
