My major is Communications, with a minor concentration in Psychology and Fine Arts. As a member of the Gold Key International Honor Society, I will graduate with honors in December of 2003. I have been a member of the HRFA for over 15 years, and have been involved with many fraternal activities. My entire family has actively enjoyed HRFA membership, including my grandparents, Tibor Nagy, Board member, and Sara Nagy, Branch Manager. I have attended Heritage Church in Davison, Michigan, since birth. My Hungarian heritage and culture are life enriching. My future plans include attending graduate school and then counseling children. My interests are reading, computers, clothing design and sewing, snowboarding, and jewelry making. My membership in, and commitment to, the HRFA will continue throughout my life. Thanks again for the scholarship to help fund my education.” Elisabeth (Betsy) Liston, member of Branch 31, Lorain, Ohio: “I am currently enrolled at Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland. I live in Fort Meade, Maryland, with my husband, who is a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, and my two children. I am a Senior pursuing a degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing. Along with being a full-time student, I am also a wife and a mother of two small children, and I have been able to maintain a 3.78 GPA. I have been affiliated with the Hungarian Reformed Church of Lorain since birth and my family has very deep roots in the church. I was baptized at the church, and while I lived in Lorain, I attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School until my parents moved out of state. I will always remember my great grandmother, Elizabeth Chonka, and the Ladies Guild, who fondly taught me great Hungarian traditions such as csiga, palacsinta, and stuffed cabbage making while a little girl and which are still some of my favorite foods. My grandparents are still active members of the church. I make a point to visit the church every time I am in Lorain, and I have many fond memories and great friends from growing up there. It always feels like home. I would like to thank Mrs. Emma Aros, Branch Manager, for recommending me for the Student Aid scholarship. It was a very pleasant surprise to hear that your society gives out this aid to us students who are members of the HRFA. I would also like to thank my grandparents, who bought the insurance policy when I was a small child. The scholarship money from you is very greatly appreciated and was used to help offset the cost of tuition and books, and it came at a very opportune time in my life.” Albie McCann, member of Branch 67, Sharon, Pennsylvania: “I was bom and raised in Sharon, where many of my friends and family members still reside. I am currently attending Penn State’s main campus in State College, Pennsylvania. I am majoring in Visual Fine Arts and have taken several courses in painting, drawing, ceramics, metals, and sculpture. As part of a work-study program, I assist at an art gallery on campus. I participated in several exhibitions there, and I hope to have my work accepted in the future. I plan to graduate as a Bachelor of the Fine Arts and continue working towards a Master’s
