Page 22 TESTVÉRISÉG Branch 202 - Duquesne, Pennsylvania Iraq Project Our Branch, in cooperation with the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was pleased to support the Iraq project announced by the Federation. We also responded to a similar request from Colonel Brown and his Marine platoon this spring. In both instances we sent donations of toys, school items, etc. to the needy children in that country. Operation Chirstmas Child This is the 3rd year that our Branch will be participat­ing in Operation Christmas Child. We look forward to working together with the Federation, too, on this project. We hope that these projects will send a message of hope to children in desparate situations around the world. We thank our members and friends for the help and goodwill at all times. Bert Olah, Branch Manager Tel: 412-521-3412 Branch 227 - Warren, Ohio Join Hands Day On Saturday, June 21, 2003, adults and youth of our Branch spent Join Hands Day at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren, Ohio. We spent quality time with as many residents as we could; we sang Christian songs; and we handed out little bags with stuffed animals Join Hands Day Volunteers of Branch 227 r. T1 J as guts. The bags were drawn with much love by our young branch member, Kayla Lytle, granddaughter of Director Bill Nicholas and his wife, Branch Manager and Area Fraternal Coordinator, Margie. It was very touch­ing to see how the resi­dents were moved by the attention and care shown by the Join Hands Day volunteers, Kayla Lytle’s Join Hands Bags especially the youth. It was a day of love and fellowship in the building of partnerships between the young people and adults. Helping Flood Victims in Ohio During the devastating flood in Trumbull County on July 23-25, 2003, HRFA Director Bill Nicholas, his wife, Marge, and branch members, Victoria and Gary Lytle, dis­tributed food items, seven boxes of clothing received from the Home Office employees, and a monetary gift of the Federation of $100 to help the flood victims. It was a wonderful effort by many people to help those in need. Thank to each and every one of you for your thoughtfulness, which brought joy and happiness to those who lost so much. Torok, his wife, Cindy; Secretary-Treasurer/ CFO William B. Puskas, Jr.; Branch Vice President, Tibor Pflum; and I, headed out early in the morning for Hopkins L. to r.: Cindy Torok, Tibor Pflum,Teri Pflum, and Rev. Stefan M. Torok working in the garden assigned to the Federation. Apartments in the District of Columbia, where our project was to take place. After driving around in the District to find the site, we made it in time to join the volunteers from the American Red Cross - Youth Task Force - National Chapter - Chesapeake Fraternal Congress, Boys Scouts of America Capitol District; Women’s Life Insurance Soci­ety; Thrivent Financial for Lutherans; Morgan Stanley; Ser­vice for Peace; Points of Light Foundation; DC Commis­sion on National and Community Service; Boys and Girls Club Hopkins; CT Associates; AmeriCorps; DC Housing Authority; and Hopkins Apartments Residents and Staff for an early breakfast.
