FRATERNITY Page 11 In our own backyard, too, our Branches are continually involved in helping individuals and the community they live in. I urge everyone to read the Branch News to see the care our Branch Managers are extending in an effort to promote the benevolent character of our society. Along with other fratemals, the HRFA will be participating in Operation Christmas Child-2003. With the help of our Area Fraternal Coordinators, we hope that we will be able to collect as many shoe box gifts as possible through our Branches for this very worthwhile project. In closing, I would like to thank each and every one of our members who have contributed in one way or another to bring happiness to people who struggle daily against the hardships and catastrophes in this world. Thank you all! Teri Pflum Fraternal Coordinator Fraternal Coordinators’ Meeting, Bethlen Home, July 20,2003. L. to r.: Rev. Stefan M. A ------OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD The HRFA has joined ranks with fraternal societies throughout the nation to participate in Operation Christmas Child (OCC). We invite our members and friends to take part in this project which can bring the Christmas joy and the love of God to needy children around the world. If you and your friends would like to join us in this undertaking, please note the following easy steps to take; 1. Find an empty shoe box and fill it with items that any child could use. Attach the appropriate label on the top of the box and mark the correct age category. (Labels will be provided upon request - see below.) 3. Fill the box with your gifts. Suggested gifts are: Toys: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, yo-yos, jump ropes, etc. Hygiene items: toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, comb, wash cloth, etc. School supplies: pens, pencils, sharpeners, crayons, markers, coloring books, etc. Other items that kids would love: hair ribbons, toy jewelry, sunglasses, socks, hard candy, lollipops, etc. NOT to be included are: Used items War-related items: toy guns, knives, etc. Chocolate or perishable food items Liquids: shampoo, lotion, bubbles, etc. Medicines: vitamins, cough drops, ointment, etc. Breakable items: mirrors, china dolls, etc. A check for $5 made payable to Samaritan’s Purse should be included in each shoe box to cover shipping and other costs.
