Page 8 ANNUAL FRATERNAL DAY CELEBRATED AT THE BETHLEN HOME TESTVÉRISÉG The Annual Fraternal Day at the Bethlen Home was held on Sunday, July 20th. The traditional Worship Service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel with the Rever­ends Stefan M. Torok, Joseph Posta, and Levente Molnár officiating. At the end of the service, the Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Executive Director of the Bethlen Home, extended greetings to the congregation and invited everyone to en­joy an afternoon of fellowship on the beautiful grounds of the Home. The food prepared by the dedicated staff of the Bethlen Home was delicious, and the entertainment by Dorothy and Company and the Hungarian Ethnic Dancers was delightful. Towards the end of the event, the HRFA presented a check for $25,000 to the Capital Campaign and made a donation of $1,000 to the Flight 93 Memorial Fund - see Page 6. Recognized for her 46 years of faithful service to the HRFA was Mrs. Agnes Haydu, former Branch Manager of Logan, West Virginia, Br. 216. The National Officers, Rev. Stefan M. Torok, President/CEO and William B. Puskas, Jr., Esq, Treasurer-Secretary/CFO, as well as George Dózsa, Chairman, presented her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a certificate of appreciation, and a Federation pin. Both Mrs. Haydu and her daughter, Mary, were visibly moved by this honor. Mrs. Haydu reminisced about her years with the Federation. See her article on Page 12. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Bethlen Home, as well as to Baba Ujvagi and Edith Szep of the Cultural Center, for their dedication and hard work to make this a memorable day for all. CHURCH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS The family of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America extends heartfelt greetings to the congregations that celebrate anniversaries in 2003 On September 7, 2003, the Calvin Reformed Church of Norwalk, Connecticut, celebrated its 110th anniversary with a Divine Worship Service of Thanksgiving and banquet. The pastor of the church is the Rev. Leslie E. Martin, Vice Chairman of the Federation On September 14, 2003, the Hungarian Reformed Church of Carteret, New Jersey, celebrated its 100Ih anniversary with a Divine Worship Service of Thanksgiving. The pastor of the church is the Rev. Csilla Lucskay. The Rev. Stefan M. Torok, President/CEO of the HRFA, delivered the English anniversary message to the congregation, and the Rev. Peter Toth, former pastor of the church, preached in Hungarian. On Septemebr 14, 2003, the Hungarian Reformed Church of Woodbridge, New Jersey, celebrated its 100th anniver­sary with a Divine Worship Service of Thanksgiving and a banquet held jointly with the Carteret, New Jersey, con­gregation. The pastor of the church is the Rev. Albert W. Kovács. The Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Executive Director of the Bethlen Home, delivered the English anniversary sermon. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz, Bishop Emeritus, preached in Hungarian. On September 21, 2003, the Magyar Reformed Church of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, celebrated its 100th anniversary with a Divine Worship Service of Thanksgiving. The pas­tor of the church is the Rev. Dr. Attila A. Kocsis. The Rev. Stefan M. Torok, who was the pastor of this congregation for 28 years, delivered the message in English entitled “Memories of the Past,” and Rev. Kocsis preached on “The Visions of the Future.” On October 19, 2003, the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead, Pennsylvania, will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a Divine Worship Service of Thanks­giving. The pastor of the church is the Rev. Alexander Jalso. Guest speakers for the occasion are expected to be: the Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi, Bishop of the Calvin Synod; the Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig, Auxiliary Bishop of the Calvin Synod; and the Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Executive Director of the Bethlen Home. On October 26, 2003, the Hungarian Reformed Church of Roebling, New Jersey, will celebrate its 90th anniversary with a Divine Worship Service of Thanksgiving at 11:00 a.m. followed by a buffet lunch. The Rev. Stefan M. Torok, who was a former pastor of the congregation, will attend the event.
