I Page 6 TESTVÉRISÉG Ohio District Meeting After a year of hiatus, the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America has reinstituted the Area District Meetings. The first such meeting was held immediately following the Spring Board of Directors Meeting on May 3,2003, at the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Walton Hills, Ohio. From the Home Office in Washington, D.C., the Rev. Stefan M. Torok, President/CEO; Mr. William B. Puskas, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer/CFO; Mr. George Dózsa, Chairman of the Board; and Mrs. Teri Pflum, National Fraternal Coordinator attended the meeting. Also Mr. Mark Sauvageot, recently appointed Sales Director for Pre-need “Circle of Care”, was present. The officers were very happy to extend a warm welcome together with area directors, Mr. John K. Morey and Mr. William Nicholas, to the following branch managers and agents from Ohio: Mr. Ed Szabó, Branch 2, Cleveland; Mrs. Jolán Abel, Branch 4, Cleveland; Mrs. Patricia M. Morey, Branch 22, Youngstown; Mrs. Irma Carnevale, Branch 69, Columbus; Mr. László V. Kernes, Branch 112, Medina; Mrs. Margaret Nicholas, Branch 227, Warren; and Mr. Matyas Vidacs, Branch 352, Cleveland. The meeting was hosted by Mr. Ed Szabó, former Chief Elder and an ever active member of the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Walton Hills. This was the first time for the new management team of the HRFA to visit the church in Walton Hills. We were truly impressed by the layout and surroundings of this beautiful church. We were also very pleased that it was a church, once again, that hosted such a gathering, thus expressing the feeling that the HRFA and the congregations, which worked so hard together in the past, can and desire to offer their services jointly for the good of our people. The meeting was conducted in a very friendly atmosphere. We were able to share our thoughts and concerns with one another on how the Federation could benefit from our greater commitment and efforts. All in attendance were welcomed by Mr. George Dózsa, Chairman of the Board of Directors, who indicated that he was with us in an official capacity as Chairman; however, his duties and responsibilities at such meetings are solely as liaison between the field and the Board of Directors. President/CEO Torok offered a general introduction as to the purpose of the District meeting. He took the opportunity to introduce the participants to each other and requested that everyone should speak his or her mind on how we can improve the business of the Federation. He shared with those in attendance that, in accordance with the resolution of the Board of Directors, we are in the process of fully developing the concept of Area Business Managers and Area Fraternal Coordinators positions. CFO Puskas, Jr., gave a financial picture of the Federation. Mrs. Teri Pflum spoke on the issue of the importance of fraternal work. She encouraged the branches to give an account of their activities to the Home Office, so in turn she could report these activities to the National Fraternal Congress of America. This helps to safeguard the tax-exempt status of our organization. She also indicated that as National Fraternal Coordinator, she would be more than happy to assist in the planning and coordinating of fraternal activities whenever or wherever needed. Rev. Torok then introduced Mr. Mark Sauvageot, the newly hired Sales Director for our Pre-need product. Mr. Sauvageot spoke in general terms about what pre-need is and asked for the cooperation from Branch Managers and local directors with this product. After a very delicious lunch prepared by the ladies of the church, the meeting continued with a general discussion. From the response we received from the field, we can say that this was time well spent together, and it is our hope that the same can be said many times over when other district meetings will be held in the future. Rev. Stefan M. Torok, President/CEO A Református Egyesület Ohio-i Körzeti Gyűlése Az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyesület, egy évi kimaradás után, újra megtartja körzeti gyűléseit.
