We wish God’s blessings on the staunch supporters of the HRFA! Contributions of Two Members of Our Branch Two of our Branch 300 members are involved in projects that focus on the ethical dimensions of issues in the news. Jeff Holzgrefe has co-edited a book (with Robert Keohane) on Humanitarian Intervention: Ethical Legal, and Political Dilemmas that was just published by Cambridge University Press in England. The book explores whether and when it is legitimate to use military force against another country to stop systematic violations of human rights. Jeff’s wife, Elizabeth Kiss, the daughter of former Branch Manager of Branch 300, Eva Kiss, directs Duke University’s Kenan Institute for Ethics. She has been leading a new business ethics initiative, Ethics at Work, which helps North Carolina companies develop an ethics code and a plan for infusing that code throughout everyday decision-making among company employees. Elizabeth is also active in a new initiative focused on the emerging science of genomics and its implications for human well-being, freedom, and justice. K«f HOMECOMING Homecoming Forum: "The New Generation Hungarian Professionals and Scholars in the United States - How to Utilize Their Expertise for Hungary's Benefit" We would like to inform our fellow Hungarians and Hungarian-Americans about an important event that took place on March 8,2003, at the Hungarian Embassy in Washington, DC. A forum was organized by a group of young Hungarians in the Washington area under the patronage of Ambassador András Simonyi. The invited attendees discussed how the new generation of Hungarians living in the U.S. could support Hungary's development. Among others, the goals of the conference were: • To discuss and evaluate the experience of the new generation of Hungarian professionals and students in the U.S. • To find ways for Hungary to benefit from their expertise and facilitate their return to Hungary. • To tap into the talents and resources of young Hungarian-Americans. • To show the support of the Hungarian Government for the return of Hungarian professionals and students. Please visit the official Web site of the Forum and share your ideas with the organizers, which they can incorporate into the final document to be submitted to the Hungarian ministries and government agencies. http://www.hungarianamerica.com/haza/ (The organizers included HRFA Branch 300 members Edit V.
