FRATERNITY Page 17 Andrew David Eenigenburg, member of Branch 176: “I currently attend Valparaiso University as a Classical Languages and Literature major studying mainly ancient Greek and Latin texts. My goal in these studies is to prepare myself for the ministry of the Word of God. I hope to attend Mid-America Reformed Seminary in Dyer, Indiana, to become a minister of Jesus Christ. My passion is for languages and for history. I enjoy studying Latin and Greek particularly for their poetic beauty and their form and structure, but I love the history that is imbedded in all the writings that I translate. Studying Latin and Greek has only fueled my desire to know more languages, and I have decided to begin this coming semester by beginning to study the German tongue as well. At Valparaiso University, I have been a representative of my dorm’s House Council to improve the Campus to plan charity events. I organize and lead regular weekly Bible studies with students. I organized an unofficial poetry club as well, and have performed in public poetry readings. I also enjoy racquetball. In January, I will be leaving for Germany to study their language, art, architecture, and culture. This is a particularly exciting prospect for me to study a currently spoken language and to be immersed in a different culture. I hope to study a great deal of European art and history as I will live in Southwestern Germany for a number of months. I greatly appreciate the financial help that the HRFA has offered me.” Jessica Eenigenburg, member of Branch 176: “I have attended Highland Christian School from K-8 and graduated from Illiana Christian High School in June 2002. I am now in my second year at Trinity Christian College and I am currently studying Physical Education with a double minor in Exercise Science and Coaching. Through junior high school and high school, I played and excelled in volleyball, basketball, and soccer. In my senior year, I was chosen for All Area Team in all three sports and went on to capture All State honors recognition for both soccer and basketball. I was Player of the Year for soccer in my junior year and Athlete of the Year for the Times newspaper in our area. However, with all these accomplishments in mind, my main achievement is that I am a child of God and able to study at a Christian college. Going to a Division I school was not even on my priority list because I knew where God wanted me. He wanted to let my light shine at a small school, and that is what I am currently doing. I play both soccer and basketball here at Trinity Christian College for which I am very thankful to God. I was all-conference in both sports my freshman year. I also earned Freshman of the Year honors for basketball, and earned All American honors in soccer. I am beginning my second season of soccer and our team is seeing bright things for the future. I am grateful to the Lord for blessing me with these talents. Our God is an awesome God, and I am so thankful to Him for sending me to this school and for giving me the opportunity to study and participate in intercollegiate athletics. I thank Him for a healthy body to do what He has called me to do. I am a volunteer coach for athletic camps at various institutions in the summer and through that I found a calling to coach small children. I coach soccer, basketball, and volleyball during the summer and hope to be an assistant to a high school coach this spring in my spare time. Thank you very much for the financial assistance.” (Both Andrew and Jessica Eenigenburg were recommended for scholarships by Branch Manager Kati Mischak.) Erika Hajdú, member of Branch 93: “Currently I am a sophomore in the Olin School of Business at Washington University in Saint Louis. I have a triple major in marketing, international business, and German, and I maintained a 4.0 GPA in my freshman year. I attended Saint Andrew’s High School where I maintained straight A’s in honors and AP courses with a 4.2 GPA, thus making the Headmaster’s List every semester. For this, I was accepted into the Cum Laude Society. I received a Morikami Nomination and a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program. I also participated in a variety of clubs including the Math Club, Literary Magazine, German Club as president, and Thespian Society as vice president. Unfortunately, our Hungarian branch in West Palm Beach is not very active, thus I have resorted to doing many community activities on my own. I have participated in multiple community service projects, include beach clean-ups, egg hunts, and walk-a-thons for many different causes, for a total of 600 community service hours in high school. Many of my community service projects involved working with children, and I have continued this tradition by spending two of my summers at an internship at Summerbridge National teaching underprivileged middle school students subjects such as Mathematics, Biology, Model United Nations, and Journalism. I have also participated in community service activities in college through more walk-a-thons, donations, and especially through my position as Vice President of Community Service for my Delta Sigma Pi Pledge Class. In my spare time I played the saxophone for seven years, winning a variety of awards for my participation in
