FRATERNITY Page 19 Branch 227 - Warren, Ohio On November 3, 2002, members of Covenant Presbyterian Church joined together in mission work preparing items for the Shoe Box Project for children of Third World Countries for the coming Christmas. Branch Manager Marge Nicholas, Pastor David Black, Barbara Sember, and Frank Beleny, coordinator of the project, organized the program for that day. We all shared in the Christian love for the children of the world. Following our mission work, we enjoyed fellowship and refreshments in the Fellowship Hall. Our branch member, Francesca Christy Ebner Music, who is a Medical Service Corps officer in the US Navy, was promoted to the rank of Captain on August 1, 2002. As tradition in the Navy, the officer is promoted in a ceremony followed by a reception with family, friends, and colleagues. Capt. Music’s ceremony took place on August 15, 2002, at the Women’s Memorial, adjacent to the Arlington Cemetery. Her husband, Christian, also a Captain in the US Navy; her three children, Andreas, Stephen, and Francesca; as well as her mother, Francesca Ebner, were the guests of honor. Rear Admiral Nancy LeScavage, NC, who is Chief of the Nurse Corps, US Navy, was the presiding official. Family members and lifelong friends joined the celebration. Christy Music has been in the Navy for approximately 18 years. She was working for the Navy Surgeon General at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Washington, D.C. In October of this year, she was transferred to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs) office at the Pentagon, where she represents the Department of Defense in the delivery of healthcare for US and foreign ally military forces and is involved with international negotiations related to Homeland Security issues. We wish Christy much success in assuming the responsibilities of her new position. God bless her and her family in their endeavors.
