Page 16 TESTVÉRISÉG So it happened that early Saturday, June 15, both youth and adults started with their project of repairing the fence around the home, cleaning the grounds, and clearing the debris inside. They worked all day long, pausing only when it was absolutely necessary, because there was much to be done. When the work was finished, the difference was felt by the staff as well as by the homeless. Now both have a clean and neat place to live and work in. Having tasted what it means to give of one’s time and effort selflessly, our friends in Hungary expressed their desire to continue working and helping as much as they possibly can - definitely at Join Hands Day in 2003. Joseph Kovács, Director Tel: 219-756-3102 Branch 134 - Gr. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Join Hands Day - Saturday, June 15, 2002 Our project consisted of cleaning up the grounds alongside the parsonage of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Duquesne, Pennsylvania. This portion of the property needed improvement because there was excess growth everywhere and poison ivy - it was an eyesore in the neighborhood. We dug out the roots of jungle-like bushes, vines and weeds with picks and very large shovels. Then we racked, mulched, and planted new flowers. We worked in the rain and mud, but we persevered and accomplished a lot. The kids worked tremendously hard and they encouraged us adults to “hang in there.” It was an excellent partnership with L. to r.: Alyssa Trunzo, Gizella Pomay, Leona Kennedy, Marian Nagy, and Barbara J. Revak, ready to plant the flowers. Our Vice President William Nagy, along with his son Jared, midway point of our project. youth and adults working together, and we enjoyed very good fellowship and a lot of cooperation among ourselves. Join Hands Day definitely brought our youth and adults closer, and we felt that our project was very worthwhile. A nice luncheon was served where we continued our fellowship. This was the result of our “Join Hands Day” project: “The Finished Landscaping” with the new flowers that were planted. Both youth and adults decided to continue the work of eliminating new weeds, and we will also rebuild a stonewall, which we discovered during the cleanup process. Many thanks to our young volunteers: Jared Nagy and Alyssa Trunzo; as well as to our adult volunteers: Loretta and Phillip Anischenko; Olga Damay; Leona Kennedy; Marian Nagy; William E. Nagy; Gizella Pomay; Barbara Revak; Barbara J. Revak; Jay Trunzo; and Elmer Tudja. Welcome New Member Our newest little member is Brady William Hegedűs, son of Lori and Louis Hegedűs.
