The 3rd Richard Aros Memorial Golf Tournament A Successful Fraternal Outing

On July 28, 2001, the 3rd Annual Golf Tournament of the HRFA was held at Champion Lakes Golf Club in Ligo- nier, Pennsylvania. Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Executive Director of the Bethlen Home, led assembled golfers in an opening devotion. The day turned out to be hot and muggy, but the enthusiasm and spirit among the players was high.

We concluded the tournament with a banquet honoring the late Charles Modory. A plaque will be forwarded to his widow, Helen, who now resides in Texas with her children and grandchildren. Mr. Modory served on the HRFA Board from 1956-1984. Next year, we look forward to

honoring Mr. Elmer E. Vargo, who served the HRFA as Secretary from 1976-1986. Charles Modory, William Aros, William Szuch, and Elmer E. Vargo represent a new era of leadership of the HRFA: the 2nd generation of ethnic Hungarians.

Beautiful prizes were raffled, the dinner was good and the people were happy.

The date of our next tournament is set for Saturday, July 20, 2002.
