Page 16 TESTVÉRISÉG Joshua Ritchie, HRFA member and grandson of Andrew and Ilona Szabó, helping out at the nursing home on Halloween. Our first Advent tea party at the Hungarian Reformed Church of Allen Park was a big success. We had twenty tables each seating eight people. Each table was attended by a hostess who had invited her own guests. Among my guests were branch members Jolán Bolash and Louise Vespremi. We all had a grand time! Ilona Szabó, Branch Manager 734-284-7344 We held our annual branch meeting at the American Hungarian Reformed Church of Allen Park on March 25, 2001 at 12:30 P.M. John Bujdoso opened the meeting and Branch Manager Ilona Szabó offered the prayer. We are gearing up for Join Hands Day on June 16'\ a picnic in September, a Christmas party in December, and in-between we would like to take a trip to Frankenmuth. Our next meeting will be at the church on July 15th. The officers elected for 2001 are: John Bujdoso, President; James Nagy, Vice President; Edith M. Santo, Treasurer; Edie T. Santo, Secretary; and Sam Vespremi, Comptroller. Refreshments were served and the meeting was adjourned at 1:20 P.M. Edie T. Santo, Ilona Szabó, and John Bujdoso Branch 54 - Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania The extended family and members of Branch 54 will perform their annual clean-up/grooming of the “old Eleanora” cemetery which has many of our Hungarian de- scendents buried there. This cemetery dates back to the mid to late 1800s where many of the coal mining immigrants are resting. Margaret and Louis Roney, who were the branch managers for many years have been responsible for my becoming active in this branch. Louis is currently being cared for in a personal care facility in Punxsutawney while Margaret still lives at home with family. Paul London, Branch Manager 814-427-5006 Branch 62 - East Chicago, Indiana The annual meeting of our branch was held February 24, 2001 at 6:30 P.M. Tivadar Horzsa opened the meeting, and Joseph Kovács offered the prayer. We elected the following officers for 2001: Tivadar Horzsa, President; Margaret Balogh, Vice President; Joseph Kovács, Treasurer; and Magdolna Marjai, Secretary. On the agenda was the upcoming performance of Sándor Lakatos as well as the branch picnic. Refreshments were served and the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M. Magdolna Marjai, Secretary Maria Kovács, Branch Manager 219-756-3102 Branch 67 - Sharon, Pennsylvania The meeting was called to order and opened with a prayer by President William Szuch on January 12, 2001. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted by members present. The Secretary-Treasurer’s report was presented and also accepted by the members present. All members were thanked for their participation. The projects and activities for 2001 are the golf tournament on July 28th in Ligonier, and we hope that all the branches will participate to make it a success for the Student Aid & Loan Fund of the HRFA.
