FRATERNITY Page 29 Branch 352 - Cleveland, Ohio The delegate election meeting was held on April 2, 2000. Delegate elected: László Kernes. Zsuzsa S. Kalman, Secretary Branch 368 - Passaic,New Jersey The delegate election meeting was opened with a prayer. Suggestions were discussed and recommendations made to the convention. Many members did not attend due to relocation. This is why the question of absentee ballots was discussed. The meeting scheduled for May 14,2000 was changed due to Mother’s Day and held on May 21, 2000. Del­egate elected: Theodore J. Harsaghy - Alternate: Rob­ert Harsaghy. Recommendations were presented for consideration by the convention. Rosa A. Rivera, Secretary Branch 369 - New York, New York The delegate election meeting was opened with a prayer by Rev. Arpad Drotos on April 30, 2000. Delegate elected: Rev. Arpad Drotos. Rev. Arpad Drotos, Branch Manager Branches 501 & 502 - St. George, New Jersey A special meeting of Branches 501 and 502 convened on May 7, 2000 with President Margaret Pauli calling on Very Reverend Basil Rakoczky to give the opening prayer. President Pauli noted that 15 eligible voting members were signed in and that number constituted a quorum. Reading of minutes, treasurer’s report and all other business was dispensed with so that the matter of electing a delegate and two alternates could commence. Delegate elected: Margaret Pauli - 1st Alternate: John Krilla - 2nd Alternate: Richard T. Pauli. Recommendations to the convention were discussed and voted upon. Prior to the close of the meeting, Margaret Pauli expressed her appreciation to all in attendance and for supporting her candidacy. Director Pauli closed the meet­ing with a prayer. Laura Melanson, Secretary Scholarship Award Presentation On Sunday, April 16, 2000, the St. George District Branch 501 of the HRFA hosted a Family Breakfast at St. Michael’s Hungarian Byzantine Catholic Church follow­ing the 8:30 a.m. liturgy. At the conclusion of the liturgy, Laura Melanson was awarded the Paul Gyukeri Scholarship. The presentation was made by Paul Gyukeri, son of the late Mr. Paul Gyukeri, one of the founders of the St. George Catholic Union and St. Michael’s Church. Laura graduated from Kean University on May 4, 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Fine Arts and Art Education and is planning to attend Gradu­ate School. She concluded her undergraduate studies by attaining the Dean’s List. Also present at the ceremony were Laura’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Melanson and her sisters Kelly and Lisa in addition to many of the parishioners.
