FRATERNITY Page 3 President’s Corner The 36th Quadrennial Convention of the HRFA and Celebration of its 104th Anniversary While celebrating our 104th Anniversary, we give thanks to the Lord and our forefathers who have made it possible for us to congregate in Toledo for our 36th Quadrennial Convention. After 85 years, we return to Toledo to pay homage to our founding fathers, especially to Steve Molnár, who served the Federation between 1902-1943. For more than four decades, the Federation treasured Mr. Molnár’s talent, dedication and hard work. Through his activities, the Federation was transformed from a sick benefit society to a modem financial institution. In 1929, Mr. Molnar’s fellow ethnic Hungarians in Buffalo thought enough of his efforts on behalf of the community to elect him president, spokesman and representative for 273 organizations. Throughout his life with the HRFA, he felt that the Federation had a dual role to play among “the Reformed Hungarian communities,” namely to care for the sick, the orphans, the elderly, the widows, and to guide and help the Hungarian Reformed Christian communities. He was instrumental in emphasizing the Protestant character of the Federation. On the other hand, he did not tolerate any exclusionary policies within the Federation. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our delegates to the 36th Quadrennial Convention and, at the same time, express my sincere appreciation to our branch managers and branch officers for the work well done in supporting the directives of the by-laws that pertain to the election of delegates. Member participation in the delegate election meetings was good - there were only a handful of branches that had to call for a 2nd round of elections due to the lack of quorum at the first meeting. I am also happy to state that no irregularities were reported by the observers present at the delegate election meetings.
