FRATERNITY Page 11 Branch 176 - Gary, Indiana Faithful members of Members 176: Adam, Andrew, Anthony and Abigail Matolcsy with their mother Cristina and Branch Manager Kati Mischak. Wishing all members and friends of Branch 176 a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Kati and Steve Mischak 219-947-1825 Branch 202 - Duquesne, Pennsylvania Branch 202 and the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, participated in the “Operation Christmas Child” project. Each year hundreds of thousands of children and adults across the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe prepare gift filled shoeboxes for children around the world. We were able to collect 18 boxes and an additional $90 to defray shipping and handling costs. “Samaritan’s Purse” provided us with a suggestion gift list and labels indicating boy or girl and the age category. We hope that this sends a message of hope to children in desperate situations in areas around the world that we care. Bertalan Oláh, Branch Manager 412-521-3412 John Toth at the collection center accepting the gifts from Branch 202 and the Pittsburgh Church. Branch 300 - Washington, D.C. For the caring fellowship extended to me and my family on the occasion of the passing away of the dear mother, I am very grateful. The Lord took her to Him at the age of 95. Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:23-26 To all members and friends of the Federation, I extend my warmest wishes for a Blessed Christmas and a Very Happy New Year. Teri Pflum, Branch Manager 301-251-1754 Branch 501 - Metuchen, New Jersey “CSALÁDFA” Many decades have passed since information has reached us pertaining to relatives remaining in Makkosjanosi, Bereg Megye, now in the Ukraine. During a meeting in New Jersey with visiting Bishop László Horkay, Bishop of the Reformed Church of Sub- Carpathia, Ukraine, we were informed that his residence was close to the area in which our ancestors lived. Our family name was left with him in the fervent hope that somehow, someone would recognize it and respond. Upon returning home from a subsequent meeting in Li- gonier, Pennsylvania, we were overcome with emotion to see a letter waiting for us from Makkosjanosi. It came from a first cousin in the Pauli family. She introduced herself as Eva, the youngest family member of Uncle Bertalan Pauli. In her letter she explained that there were five members in her family remaining and two other first cousins in the family of another uncle. In total, seven-first cousins were found to be still living in that area. Eva was very interested in information about the many relatives here, for, as we were seeking news of anyone there, they likewise were hoping for news of relatives here in America. After this original contact was made, I was able to respond with news of all family members here. We received from them a very large “Családfa” photograph and many pictures, some very old, of all members of her family and telephone calls from them which brought us even closer together. Also received was a Wedding Ceremony Video of her son’s wedding taken in 1991. This was very touching because we saw many old traditional Hungarian wedding customs.
