Page 12 TESTVÉRISÉG News from the Kossuth House Thanksgiving 1999 Christmas Bazaar of the Hungarian Scouts of Washington, D.C. A small group of the Hungarian Scouts of Washington, D.C. before their performance. Ms. Judy Tutt, her little daughter and the Rev. Martha Clark-Boothby with the Federation’s Thanksgiving basket and goodies. The officers and staff members donated food items towards a Thanksgiving food basket for a needy family in the Washington, D.C. area. As promised, the turkey was purchased by the HRFA. The joy of giving was evident because we were able to fill one large basket and three small shopping bags. The family, Ms. Judy Tutt and her two young children, were recommended to us by the Rev. Martha Clark- Boothby, Associate Rector of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church on Connecticut Avenue, Washington, D.C. They had recently moved to this area and were very much in need of assistance. Our basket was delivered to the church by staff members on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We had the opportunity to meet Judy, her daughter, and the Rev. Boothby. Judy was very grateful for our Thanksgiving food basket, and we felt truly blessed that we could help a family in need. Suzanne S. Virgulák, Treasurer For years the Federation has been a faithful sponsor of the annual Christmas Bazaar of the Hungarian Scouts of Washington, D.C. This year Mrs. Iren Vallario represented the Federation and offered our donation of $100 which will help sponsor the Make-a-Wish Foundation, one of the pet projects of the Scouts. As always Ildikó Berger’s beautiful pottery, the pretty Christmas crafts made by the Scouts, and the delicious Hungarian dishes and pastries drew a large crowd of new and old visitors. Also, the presentation of Hungarian dances by Tisza Ensemble and the Scouts added to the success of the event. Ildko Berger and her husband Karl. Ildikó 's pottery has adorned many homes in the Washington, D.C. area.
