Election of officers for 1998 was held. Results are as follows: Stephen Szabó, President; Tim S. Morey, Vice President; Patricia M. Morey, Secretary-Treasurer. Please note the following coming events: August 9, 1998: Hungarian Day at the Hungarian Club September 19, 1998: Bacon Fry at the Church September 20, 1998: Hungarian Heritage Day at the Hungarian Club. Morey, Branch Secretary-Treasurer BRANCH 35 - DETROIT, OHIO The officers of Branch 35 honored Mrs. Teghze-Gerber at a reception held at the Allen Park American Hungarian Reformed Church. In behalf of the Federation, Secretary Endre Csornán presented her a check and commended her for her services to the Federation. Thank you, Mrs. Ethel Teghze-Gerber, for your dedica­tion and selfless services to the Federation throughout many years, and we wish God’s richest blessings on your life. Endre Csornán, National Secretary The annual meeting of our branch was held at 3:15 p.m., December 20,1997. Mrs. Amalia Kulcsár opened the meeting with a prayer. Topics touched upon under old business were: the District Meeting held in Toledo, Ohio on May 10, 1997 where, in the presence of the National Officers, we met the new director, the Rev. Imre A. Bertalan; and, the branch meeting held on September 30, 1997 in Allen Park, Michigan where we introduced our new Branch Manager Mrs. Helen I. Szabó to the membership. National Secretary Endre Csornán was present at this meeting. We also talked about the first Christmas Party held for the children on December 20, 1997. It was a big success with Santa handing out presents. We are planning to have a picnic this summer Officers elected for 1998 are: Amalia Kulcsár, President; Paul J. Helen Putnoky, Branch Manager BRANCH 50 - BUFFALO, NEW YORK Branch Manager Elvira Petry opened the annual branch meeting at 11:15 a.m., and the Rev. András C. Springer offered a prayer. Elected were: Nicholas Bado, President; László Cseh, Vice President; Alexander Csicseri, Treasurer; Elvira Petry, Secretary. We wish to congratulate Mr. & Mrs. Nicholas Bodo who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. May God bless their married life with continued happiness and good health. Elvira Petry, Branch Manager BRANCH 52 - SO. NORWALK, CONNECTICUT The annual meeting of our branch was held at the home of Ernest and Suzanne Virgulák on Sunday, November 23, 1997. It was opened by Branch President Ernest P. Virgulák at 2:30 p.m. with a prayer. A moment of silence was held in memory of the late Andrew Hutkai, a faithful member who served as branch comptroller for many years. L. to r.: Mrs. Attila Szentesi and Rev. Attila Szentesi, Mrs. Ilona Szabó, Mr. Endre Csornán, Mr. Paul Kulcsár, Mrs. Arlene Csornán, Mrs. Amy Kulcsár. In the center: Mrs. Ethel Teghze Gerber. Retirement of a Beloved Branch Manager Mrs. Ethel Teghze-Gerber worked as Manager of the Detroit, Michigan Branch 35 of the Hungarian Reformed Federation with dedication, integrity and vigor for nearly thirty years. Because of health problems, she tendered her resigna­tion, which was accepted with much regret. Mrs. Teghze-Gerber was bom in Budapest, Hungary. She immigrated to Canada in 1949 and married Miklós Teghze-Gerber, a well-known composer and pianist, in 1952. That same year they moved to Lincoln Park, Michigan. She and her husband were affiliated with the Allen Park Ameri­can Hungarian Reformed Church where they were active and faithful church workers.
