FRATERNITY Page 17 BRANCH 140 - CANTON, OH On July 12, 1997 approx. 80 people gathered at a picnic held at Clearwater Park in Uniontown. It was a fun-filled day with lots of good food, games, swimming, and mini golf. The weather cooperated with a hot sunny day, which was great for the losers of the balloon toss. A mini golf tournament was set up and prizes were given to first and second places and the lucky ones to get a hole in one. This fun-filled day was such a success that we have already started talking of another picnic next year. There was also cereal for the children. Founders and Heritage Day With much anticipation, the Founders and Heritage Day luncheon planned by the branch for many months finally became a reality on Sunday, November 23, 1997. The event originally scheduled to honor Margaret Fowery, long time member and daughter of Paul Gyukeri, one of the founders of the St. George Catholic Union, remained true to its purpose, notwithstanding Margaret’s untimely death in late September.
