Alexander and Mrs. Irene Jalso of Brownsville, Pennsylvania, is currently serving in the Peace Corps as a volunteer in Hungary. He teaches business English and economics in the college and high school in the city of Eger, northeast of Budapest. Rev. Alexander Jalso, Branch Manager Branch 140 - Canton, OH Our branch held a get-together April 12, 1997 at the social hall of Calvin Church. Many members and their families had a good time. Everyone enjoyed the good food and looking at old pictures which brought back pleasant memories. Children had fun playing together and getting to know one another. We had games and played bingo. Winners received prizes. The afternoon was enjoyed by all and helped to forget our cold “forgotten” spring. All had a good time at the spring get-together of Branch 140. Michael David Barth Bom June 24, 1996. Our branch is proud to announce our youngest member: Michael David Barth, son of Mike and Sherri Barth, grandson of Dave Bodo and great- grandson of the late Margaret Bodo. We are grateful to Mr. Bodo for buying insurance policies from the HRFA for Michael David and his big sister Rebecca. God’s blessings on all. Margaret A. Ayers, Branch Manager Branch 151 - Beaver Falls, PA “Rain, rain go away! Come again some other day!” This was the prayer of the members of our branch as we started preparing for our annual HRFA picnic on June 1, 1997. Although it poured all day Saturday and Sunday morning, we nevertheless carried on with the preparations in a half- heated manner. Because of the extensive advertizing by mail, phone and radio, it would have been impossible to cancel. Also more importantly, this event was designated as a fund raiser for one of our members, Sandra Varady-Borelli, who, having suffered several strokes this year, was left disabled. Branch 151 extends a warm welcome to Thomas, Steven and Alyssa Schettino, newest members of the branch. Unbelievably, the rain came to a halt and people, young and old, began to arrive. The wonderful aroma of the goulash and kolbász filled the air and the table filled with Hungarian pastries was a grand sight. The highlight of the day was when Sandra arrived with her children. She continues to improve daily and her desire to be with everyone at the picnic is a testament to her courage. National Secretary Endre Csornán presented her with a check from the HRFA Thomas, Steven and Alyssa Schettino. Albert P. Jalso
