Page 4 TESTVÉRISÉG FROM THE SECRETARY’S OFFICE SYNOPSIS OF RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED at the SPRING BOARD MEETING WASHINGTON, D.C., APRIL 14-18, 1997 (é/Ae cajowmI'twAo/wed: >• That to strengthen the field force, a system of training and the development of a new manual be implemented. >• That the Federation’s national officers and Board of Directors be called upon to set an example to agents and branch managers by producing a combined total of sixty- five new certificates per year for the next four years. (Note: Husband and wife count as one.) >• That a concentrated effort, including a letter campaign, to seek finders in all districts be implemented. >- That the percentage of appraised value be retained at 70% in our mortgage lending policy. The duration of the lending period and the maximum principal amount will remain at 15-20 years and a $125,000 maximum. Mortgage applicant must be a member of the HRFA in good standing for a minimum of two years. Further, we recommend that the applicant would remain a member of the HRFA for the duration of the mortgage. >• That one continuing education day be granted for a fulltime employee per year. Course must be related to the employee’s position and should enhance his or her job skills. >■ That the Federation become more aggressive in its investment philosophy to secure higher returns, but remain within the guide- lines of the NAIC. >• That the Student Aid Fund trustees consider setting aside $3,000 per year in support of a White House internship program. The committee recommends that two thirds ($2,000) be for Federation members and one third ($1,000) be available to nonmembers. >• That the reimbursement of expenses for continuing education of licensed agents be put on an equitable sliding scale based on production. >• That the Federation reestablish its membership in the ethnic Hungarian societies: the newly reorganized American Hungarian Federation and the Hungarian American Coalition. >• That the HRFA extend its advertisements to include an ad in the Christian Observer, a monthly publication of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of the U.S.A. The cost for this advertisement would be $1,000 per year. >• That the upgrading of the home office computer system be implemented to support the record keeping systems needed to keep the home office staff readily responsive to the membership’s needs. >■ That a committee be formed to explore the options available to the HRFA to continue our pension benefit to full-time employees on a more equitable basis. >- Acknowledged: That the annual donations approved by the convention be disbursed for the year 1997: Hungarian Reformed Youth Camps (joint project of HRCA with Calvin Synod) $2,000 each; American Hungarian Foundation $2,000; Advertisements in church papers (Magyar Egyház and Reformátusok Lapja) $ 1,000 each; Habitat for Humanity (International chapter in Hungary) $ 1,000; Hungarian Scouts $2,000; Hungarian Human Rights Foundation $2,000.
