FRATERNITY Page 21 BRANCH 63 - BRIDGEPORT, CT Annual meeting of branch 63 was held on January 21, 1996 at 6:30 P.M. in the home of our Branch Manager, Louis Reszoly. The meeting was opened by Louis Barabas and the prayer offered by the branch manager. A silent prayer was held for Olga Nanai, Frank Norko and Andrew Perka who passed away in 1995. We welcomed our youngest member Taylor E. Wilkinson. Our activities in 1995 included visiting of the elderly in their homes and at the hospital. This year again we will be helping with the Rose Ball. Officers elected for 1996 are: Louis Barabas, President; Elizabeth Mocsi, Vice President; Rosemary Szepesi, Treasurer; Klara Barabas, Secretary. Klara Barabas, Secretary BRANCH 67 - SHARON, PA Kati Mischak narrated the program. About twenty-five children waited impatiently for the arrival of St. Nicholas. They did not have to wait too long for a very authentic St. Nick (played by Rev. Skerl) to arrive with his helper Krampusz (played by Joe Kovács). The children were thrilled with the play and also because they each received presents, gifts of the Kossuth Club, as well as a golden “virgács” to remind them that they were naughty at times. Christmas presents were also sent to children who couldn’t be there because of illness or previous commitments. We ended this part of the program with the singing of traditional Hungarian Christmas songs. The second part of the program dealt with the annual meeting of the Kossuth Club-HRFA branches. Julius Simon opened the meeting and Mrs. Helen Kovecsi offered the opening prayer. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Steve Mischak, and our treasurer Joe Kovács reported that the Club had $5,356 on hand. The club’s officers resigned and Jim Kovecsi took over as the interim president, with Angela Vegh acting as recording secretary. The election took place and the club’s membership retained the previous officers in their former office. Jim Kovecsi swore in the new officers of the Kossuth Club and HRFA Branches 62, 17, 176, 100, 84: Julius Simon, President; Kati Mischak, Vice President; Joe Kovács, Treasurer; Magda Marjai, Secretary; Steve Mischak, Recording Secretary. The officers thanked the members for their confidence. Julius Simon asked us to give our utmost support to the HRFA and emphasized our need for a strong Hungarian organization. We could extend more help to our motherland if we had the backing of a strong organization. Joe Kovács asked us to support the Hungarian American Citizens Club for their New Year’s party. The Danyi family and Kati Mischak contributed to the raffle. The meeting was closed by Kati Mischak. We then sampled the delicious Hungarian food prepared by the Kovács family and their helpers. We all had an enjoyable evening in good fellowship. Steve Mischak, Recording Secretary Performers of the Bethlehem play and the audience President William Szuch opened the meeting on December 6, 1995 at 7:00 P.M. A large number of our members attended the picnics at Beaver Falls and Ligonier.
