Her husband is in the background. Also shown is Very Rev. Joseph Erdei, O.S.B.M. Superior of the Basilian Fathers Monastery, cosponsors of the raffe. The Third Annual Mariapoch Fellowship Day sponsored by the St. George District and the combined branches of New Jersey was held on Sunday, August 6, 1995. Having experienced a very hot summer with prolonged periods without rain, we were nevertheless presented with a situation of having to contend with the remnants of Hurricane Erin. Undaunted, the Committee made changes in our normal operation schedule, and with the excellent indoor facilities available at the Basilian Fathers Monastery, we were able to follow through with our activities in an orderly fashion. Rt. Rev. Francis Vitéz, Bishop, John Calvin Magyar Reformed Church of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, gave the invocation. Mrs. Elaine Convery led the assemblage in the singing of the American and Hungarian anthems, followed by President George Dózsa who welcomed the guests in behalf of the Federation. Fine food and drinks, homemade Hungarian pastries and our cornucopia of fresh fruits and Hungarian delicacies were in great demand during the afternoon. Halgatos, csárdás and melodies from famous operettas played by Stephen Chubak Hungarian Trio filled the afternoon air, and made the people oblivious of the inclement weather outside. The highlight of the program was the drawing of the raffle, co-sponsored with the Basilian Fathers of Mariapoch. We are deeply indebted to the Order for their charitable act on our behalf. The winning ticket #08990 was held by Eva Pady of Wayne, New Jersey, and was sold by Branch Manager Helen Dodge. The prize was made possible through the generosity of Margaret and Fred Erdei of the Travel Guide, Inc. located in Clark, New Jersey. In addition, Margaret donated a piece from her Herend collection and beautiful embroidered Hungarian articles for our premise raffle. Because of the unyielding weather, our attendance was held to just under 400 people, and our net profit was $1,230.35. The net proceeds of our Budapest Raffle drawing amounted to $5,566.40. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Margaret and Fred Erdei for their most generous donations. Also to our dedicated workers who gave unstintingly of their time and effort, and to those who braved the elements to share the day with us, we thank you. To all the wonderful Branch Managers, Directors and Officers who participated in our Benefit Raffle, we owe a deep sense of gratitude. We look forward with great anticipation to our Fourth Annual event next year which will culminate in the Federation’s 100th Anniversary Celebration. May God grant us all the opportunity to share in this most significant milestone. Michael Pauli, Jr., Director SÁROSPATAK REFORMED KOLLEGIUM’S CHOIR ON AN AMERICAN TOUR After the successful Debrecen Kántus and the Kolozsvár choir tours, we will be welcoming the Sárospatak Reformed Kollégium’s Choir during the 1996 Easter vacation (Easter is on April 7, 1996) for a three-week tour. The itinerary of the Choir-Tour will be announced in the 1 st issue of the Fraternity, 1996.
